Canberra, Australia – 1 March 2016 — Today’s Plan, is pleased to welcome aboard athletes, Daniel (D-Mac) McConnell and Rebecca (Bec) Henderson as official ambassadors.
These athletes will be utilising Today’s Plan to design their training sessions and monitor progress from now until the end of the 2016 season, with a big focus on qualifying and racing in the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil. This will be McConnell’s 3rd Olympic Games if successful, having previously competed at both the Beijing and London Games and Henderson’s second, after she was part of the London Olympics team.
Daniel is a stalwart in the World Cup MTB XCO scene with his first big breakthrough coming in 2013, when he won the first World Cup Race of the season at Albstadt, Germany. It was a great start after just signing with Trek Factory MTB Racing Team. He had a consistent season, proving his merit by finishing third overall in the MTB UCI World Cup Series. He backed this up with another strong season in 2014, which included four top-10 finishes at World Cup events, a result of third overall in the MTB UCI World Cup Series, a bronze medal at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games. He was also crowned Australian and Oceania XCO Champion.
The 2015 season has also has not slowed the man known as D-Mac. McConnell was again crowned Australian XCO Champion, he competed in the 2015 Santos Tour Down Under for the Trek Factory Road Racing team, and also notched up another five victories in the 2015 mountain bike race season.
Henderson has also been traveling on the MTB UCI World Cup race circuit for some time now and joined Trek Factory MTB Racing team in 2013. Bec finished second in the Under-23 MTB UCI World Cup Series in 2012 and stepped up to clinch the Under-23 MTB UCI World Cup Series overall victory in 2013 by finishing either first or second in five of the World Cup rounds that year. In 2014, she moved up into the Elite Category, where she finished second at the Oceania Championships and secured the Australian title. She also managed two top-20 finishes at MTB UCI World Cup races and topped off the season with a bronze medal at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. In 2015, Bec further improved her results, picking up two top-10 finishes in the UCI MTB World Cup Series, and was crowned both the Australian and Oceania Champion.
